The Honourable Bernard Davis, Minister of Environment and Climate Change, has announced the following event relative to Part 10 Environmental Assessment of the Environmental Protection Act.
UNDERTAKING REGISTERED:
Voisey’s Bay Wind Energy Project (Reg. 2180)
Proponent: Vale NL Ltd and Innu-Inuit Envest Ltd Partnership
The proponent is proposing to construct five 4.2 megawatt (MW) wind turbines located at GPS Hill within Voisey’s Bay mining lease in Labrador. The wind energy is intended to offset more than 13% of the mines diesel requirements. Wind energy produced is intended solely for the use of the mine as an off-grid system.
The undertaking was registered on December 29, 2021; the deadline for public comments is February 3, 2022; and the minister’s decision is due by February 12, 2022.
