Voting is ongoing at all district offices throughout Newfoundland and Labrador. Over 100 election officials spread across 61 locations are available to assist electors with casting their ballots early and in-person.
To vote at a district office, an elector must complete a special ballot application and provide identification that shows their name and address. After the application is approved, the elector is given a voting kit and instructions on how to vote. The ballot can be marked immediately and placed in the ballot box.
Extra precautions against COVID-19 make this voting option safe and accessible for all electors. Measures include:
- Mandatory masks in all offices.
- Requirement for electors to sanitize their hands upon entry to any Elections NL office.
- Provision of a new pencil/pen to each elector to complete their application and mark their ballot.
- Sanitization of voting compartments after each elector.
- Frequent sanitization of high contact areas, such as door handles and tabletops.
- Placement of floor decals and other types of signage to facilitate social distancing.
In-person voting is also available at Elections NL headquarters at 39 Hallett Crescent in St. John’s. The headquarters office has the capability to serve multiple electors at once and is a good option for anyone in the St. John’s area.
The deadline to vote at a district office is Saturday, February 6 at 6:00 p.m.
