Premier Furey Thanks Gary Norris for Service; Announces Acting Clerk of the Executive Council

The Honourable Andrew Furey, Premier of Newfoundland and Labrador, is today expressing his thanks to Gary Norris for his commitment and passion for the provincial public service. Mr. Norris is retiring from his role as Clerk of the Executive Council on Wednesday, June 30.

Premier Furey is appointing Krista Quinlan as the acting Clerk of the Executive Council. A complete bio for Ms. Quinlan can be found in the backgrounder below.

BACKGROUNDER

Biography for Krista Quinlan

Krista Quinlan has served as Deputy Clerk of the Executive Council and Associate Secretary to Cabinet since January 2019. She also has experience as acting Clerk of the Executive Council from the summer of 2020.

Prior to this, she held the positions of Assistant Secretary to Cabinet (Economic Policy) and acting Deputy Clerk with the Office of the Executive Council. Ms. Quinlan has also served as Assistant Deputy Minister with the Department of Fisheries and Aquaculture and Vice President and Corporate Secretary with the Research and Development Corporation.

She began her public service career with the Government of Newfoundland and Labrador in 2000 as a Policy Analyst with the Department of Fisheries and Aquaculture, and has also held positions with the Intergovernmental Affairs Secretariat and Cabinet Secretariat.

Ms. Quinlan holds a Master of Business Administration degree and a Bachelor of Arts degree from Memorial University. She volunteers with Girl Guides of Canada, Scouts Canada and the Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award-Canada.
