The Honourable Andrew Furey, Premier of Newfoundland and Labrador, today announced the appointment of Michelle Jewer as Deputy Minister with the Department of Finance.

Ms. Jewer has worked with the Provincial Government since 2000 in a number of departments, most recently serving as the Secretary to the Treasury Board. A full bio can be found in the backgrounder below.

The appointment is effective immediately.

Biography of Michelle Jewer

Michelle Jewer joined the Government of Newfoundland and Labrador in 2000 at the Office of the Auditor General. Since that time, she has held several financial leadership positions in Government across various departments including the Department of Education, the Department of Health and Community Services, Department of Finance and Treasury Board Secretariat. Ms. Jewer’s has held the role of Comptroller General and her most recent role is the Secretary to the Treasury Board (Acting) with the Treasury Board Secretariat. Ms. Jewer holds a Bachelor of Commerce (Co-operative) from Memorial University and is a Chartered Professional Accountant.
