September 24, 2021

Salmonier Nature Park fall programs are now underway, including onsite visitation and guided interpretation tours of the Wildlife Discovery Center and select wildlife enclosures.

The Salmonier Nature Park was temporarily closed as a result of impacts from Hurricane Larry. While the Wildlife Discovery Center is now open again to visitors, the park’s Nature Trail remains closed to the general public while repairs are being completed. The Wildlife Discovery Center is open to the public daily from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. until October 11. Entrance gates close at 3:00 p.m. Visitors are reminded that masks are required when entering public buildings.

Despite the closure of the Nature Trail boardwalk, guided tours of select park areas are available to all individuals and groups including schools, seniors groups, scouts and guides.

Schools and other interest groups can book outdoor on-site classroom visits or arrange for virtual outreach programming. The Virtual Wild Outreach program is specifically designed to meet the science based curriculum needs for grades K-6. Programming will integrate learning, discussion and fun activities with a focus on the province’s wildlife.

To book a guided park visit or obtain additional information about outreach programming and available wildlife enclosures email salmoniernaturepark@gov.nl.ca or call the park at 709-229-7888.
