December 20, 2021

Individuals planning to cut wood for personal use in 2022 can renew or obtain a Domestic Cutting Permit online via MyGovNL beginning January 1. The standard permit fee is $25.00 while the fee for individuals 65 years of age and older is $16.25.

Users of MyGovNL can pay for permits online, view maps outlining domestic cutting areas and boundaries, review regulations and access important safety information. The online process also enables permit holders to add and change up to 10 helpers on their permit who can assist with the cutting of wood on behalf of a permit holder.

Permits can also be acquired in-person at Forest Management Offices throughout the province.
