The Provincial Government today announced that the Newfoundland and Labrador big game licence application process will move to a primarily online service beginning in 2022. This transition will benefit hunters by enabling the application process to open earlier, improving processing times and allowing applications to be monitored online.
Under this improved process, big game application and draw result notifications will be issued electronically via email, rather than through the Canada Post. Individuals who currently do not have an online account will receive detailed instructions by regular mail early in 2022 that explain how to create a new online account. Other options for submitting applications will be provided for individuals who reside in areas with limited internet access.
Since the introduction of the online function in 2003, increasing numbers of hunters in the province have been submitting digital applications. Currently, over 77 per cent of eligible hunters have already set up an online account, enabling them to electronically submit their application, check the status, and receive their licence(s).
Beginning in mid-February applications can be completed and submitted online through the Department’s Wildlife Information Management System (WIMS) portal. For additional information about the application process please contact the provincial Wildlife Division at 709-637-2025 or by email at wildlifelicense@gov.nl.ca.

“I am pleased that more hunters in the province will avail of online services to submit and monitor their big game applications. Processing big game applications online creates a more efficient system which benefits both hunters and administrators, and it supports increased public access to Newfoundland and Labrador’s forestry and wildlife resources.”
