April 30, 2021

The Auditor General today released her report on the audit of the financial statements (public accounts) for the year ended March 31, 2020. The public accounts were tabled in the House of Assembly in December 2020.

The Auditor General has provided a clean opinion on the public accounts, as required under Section 11 of the Auditor General Act. As in previous years, comments are focused on the fiscal condition of the province, as well as the current and future economic situation. The recommendations are primarily focused on dealing with the deficit, as the province’s fiscal outlook for 2021 contains considerable risks.

The Honourable Siobhan Coady, Minister of Finance and President of Treasury Board, acknowledges the work of the Auditor General in compiling this report, and appreciates the oversight and sound counsel her office provides.

Quote
“We thank the Auditor General and her team for reviewing the audited financial statements. We are tackling the important fiscal issues facing our province. We will modernize and transform government, address our structural challenges and move forward with strength to build a stable future.”
Honourable Siobhan Coady
Minister of Finance and President of Treasury Board
