A new school year begins tomorrow in Newfoundland and Labrador. While going back to school can be an exciting time for students, staff and parents, it is also normal to experience feelings of apprehension and worry.
The Department of Health and Community Services is reminding people about the free e-mental health services for youth and adults available at www.bridgethegapp.ca.
These services can help build effective coping skills and positive behaviours for the school year ahead and include:
- BreathingRoom™;
- MindWell-U 30-Day Mindfulness Challenge;
- Strongest Families Institute’s anxiety and behavioural programs for ages 3-17;
- Strongest Families Institute’s I CAN (Conquer Anxiety and Nervousness) program for ages 18+; and,
- Therapy Assistance Online (TAO).
From a computer, tablet or a cell phone, people can instantly access content that can provide advice, assurance or guidance on finding additional supports when and where needed.
