The House of Assembly advises that at the close of nominations at 4:30 p.m. today, notices of intent for election to the Office of Speaker were received from the following:

• Derek Bennett, Member-elect, District of Lewisporte – Twillingate
• Paul Dinn, Member-elect, District of Topsail – Paradise
• Sherry Gambin-Walsh, Member-elect, District of Placentia – St. Mary’s
• Scott Reid, Member-elect, District of St. George’s – Humber
• Brain Warr, Member-elect, District of Baie Verte – Green Bay

The election of Speaker will be the first order of business when the House of Assembly convenes on Monday, April 12 at 3:00 p.m. The process is outlined in Chapter 2 of the Standing Orders of the House of Assembly.
