Contract Awarded for Central Newfoundland Road Work

A contract valued at $6.3 million has been awarded to Edward Collins Contracting Ltd to complete road and bridge rehabilitation on the Trans-Canada Highway in Central Newfoundland.

This contract includes work to:

  • Replace existing expansion joints, remove deteriorated concrete, and replace guide rails at South Brook Bridge;
  • Replace asphalt, approach slabs, and expansion joints at Grand Falls-Windsor West overpass;
  • Replace asphalt and repair potholes on Grand Falls-Windsor Pedestrian Overpass;
  • Rehabilitate 5.6 kilometres of the Trans-Canada Highway, east of Penstock Bridge, including replacing culverts and pavement; and
  • Rehabilitate 4.9 kilometres of the Trans-Canada Highway, including paving sections and replacing culverts, between South Brook to West Bottom.

The Department of Transportation and Infrastructure anticipates work to be completed during this highway construction season. Motorists should anticipate some traffic delays while work is ongoing.
