July 6, 2021

The Department of Transportation and Infrastructure has awarded a contract valued at $2.3 million to Farrell’s Excavating to construct a roundabout in Paradise.

The roundabout will be constructed at the intersection of McNamara Drive and the road that leads to the new $34 million Paradise Intermediate School. The contract also involves completing site work related to the school access road. The school will open this September.

Motorists should plan for some traffic delays while construction is ongoing. The department anticipates construction being completed this summer.

Quote
“The new school will lead to more traffic on McNamara Drive in addition to people driving to the ice complex, soccer fields and businesses in the area, so it is important that we take steps to ensure the safety of everyone in this busy part of the Avalon Peninsula. Roundabouts help with traffic flow, lead to motorists reducing their speeds, and create a safer environment.”

Minister of Transportation and Infrastructure
