Work to repair and repave the Outer Ring Road overpass in the westbound lanes above Team Gushue Highway is beginning tomorrow, September 15.
During this time, the highway will be reduced to one lane and the speed limit reduced to 50 km/h due to heavy equipment and crews working in the area.
When approaching the construction zone, motorists should travel at a reduced speed in either lane until they reach the merge point and then alternate into the open lane before cautiously travelling through the area. Motorists should also refrain from moving from lane to lane to overtake other vehicles.
Motorists are advised to:
- Pay close attention to traffic control;
- Take alternate routes where possible;
- Be prepared to slow down; and
- Anticipate some traffic delays.
The Department of Transportation and Infrastructure anticipates the project being completed in October.
A contract valued at approximately $3.4 million was awarded to Farrell’s Excavating to complete the work. The contract also includes work on the Team Gushue Highway and Pitts Memorial Drive, which is anticipated to begin at a later date.
Details on all construction on provincial highways where motorists can expect traffic delays is available at nl511.ca and the 511 smartphone app.
