The Honourable Pam Parsons, Minister Responsible for Women and Gender Equality, will participate in a flag raising ceremony to recognize the start of the 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence and the 2021 Purple Ribbon Campaign. The event will take place tomorrow (Thursday, November 25) at 1:00 p.m. in the main lobby of the Confederation Building, East Block.
The ceremony will be also be livestreamed on Facebook.
The event will include words from local community advocates Martha Muzychka, representing Violence Prevention Avalon East, Debbie Hibbs, a parent of a victim of violence, and a vocal performance by Deantha Edmunds.
Each year from November 25 (International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women) to December 10 (World Human Rights Day), Newfoundland and Labrador observes the 16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence.
This event is by invitation only as we are adhering to public health guidelines and there is limited capacity.
