The Provincial Government is congratulating Newfoundland and Labrador’s Liam Hickey and teammates on winning the silver medal for Canada at the 2022 Paralympic Winter Games in Beijing.
Team Canada played the United States in the Para ice hockey final on Sunday at the National Indoor Stadium in Beijing.
Canada participated in all five winter sports including:
- Para ice hockey (17 athletes);
- Para nordic ski – para biathlon and para cross country (12 athletes);
- Para alpine skiing (11 athletes);
- Wheelchair curling (5 athletes); and,
- Para snowboard (4 athletes).
In total, Canada won 25 medals at this year’s Paralympic Winter Games:
- Gold – 8
- Silver – 6
- Bronze – 11
