Public Advisory: Culvert Replacement Beginning on Salmonier Line

  • Transportation and Infrastructure

January 31, 2022

Work is underway to replace culverts on Salmonier Line (Route 90) following a washout on the highway in the vicinity of Mount Carmel on Sunday, January 30.

Farrell’s Excavating has been engaged to complete repairs. Heavy equipment is preparing the area for the installation and the department is mobilizing new culverts to the site.

Crews from the Department of Transportation and Infrastructure continue to assess the damage and motorists are encouraged to use alternate routes until the work is completed.

Updates on progress are being provided as they become available. The department anticipates this work will be completed within approximately one week. Motorists are reminded to obey traffic control, watch for heavy equipment and crews on open highways, and stay away from the construction site. Avoiding the area allows crews to complete the work in a timely manner.

Information on active highway construction projects and repairs is also available by visiting nl511.ca and on the NL 511 mobile app.
