The Public Procurement Agency is seeking input from the public and provincial businesses as it develops a new policy that will consider social impacts for procurement of goods, services and public works alongside other factors such as price, quality, and technical specifications.
A new policy would aim to diversify the supply chain and encourage suppliers to consider social impacts in their procurement.
Information obtained through the engagement process will be used by the agency to ensure that any new policy meets the needs and expectations of, vendors, advocacy groups, and industry leaders in Newfoundland and Labrador.
Participants will be asked to provide feedback on a variety of topics, including how to best implement social procurement practices and what can be done to reduce barriers to businesses who may experience challenges accessing public procurement opportunities.
This engagement also seeks to explore how a social procurement policy could be implemented in Newfoundland and Labrador.
The questionnaire is available at Engagenl.ca until March 29, 2022. Written submissions are also being accepted until March 29, 2022, by email to markdrover@gov.nl.ca or regular mail:
