Work on a culvert replacement on the Trans-Canada Highway near Little Rapids, east of Corner Brook, is expected to begin this weekend.
While work is ongoing, eastbound traffic at this location will detour through Little Rapids via Exit 10, Johnson Drive and Bonnell Drive.
Westbound traffic will be diverted around the construction site with the speed limit reduced to heavy equipment and crews working in the area. Motorists are asked to pay attention to traffic control and be prepared to slow down.
A contract valued at approximately $726,000 was awarded to Mike Kelly and Sons Ltd. in April to replace the culvert.
The department anticipates work being completed later this month and paving being completed in June. Updates on progress will be provided as they become available.
Information on tenders issued and awarded by the department and other public bodies is available by visiting www.merx.com/govnl.
