Members of the public are reminded that the 36th annual Winter Lights Across Canada celebration is taking place this Thursday, December 8 at 5:30 p.m. in the lobby of East Block, Confederation Building, St. John’s.

The event is open to the public, and the lights will be activated at approximately 6:25 p.m. During the event there will be complimentary hot chocolate, provided by Tim Hortons, in the lobby.

The event will be hosted by Stephanie O’Brien of OZFM, and entertainment will be provided by Paige Penney, Shallaway Youth Choir’s Prima ensemble and the Royal Newfoundland Regiment Band.

The Honourable Steve Crocker, Minister of Tourism, Culture, Arts and Recreation and the Honourable Elvis Loveless, Minister of Transportation and Infrastructure, will be joined by two newcomer families from South Sudan and Ukraine to help kick off the holiday celebrations this year.

This event will be livestreamed to the Government of Newfoundland and Labrador’s Facebook page and on YouTube.
