President/CEO for the Provincial Advisory Council on the Status of Women Reappointed

The Honourable Pam Parsons, Minister Responsible for Women and Gender Equality, today announced the reappointment of Paula Sheppard as President/CEO of the Provincial Advisory Council on the Status of Women. Ms. Sheppard’s appointment, effective January 28, 2022, is for a three-year term.

The appointment was initially recommended through the merit-based Independent Appointments Commission process.

BACKGROUNDER

Biography of Paula Sheppard
Paula Sheppard is a diligent supporter and a fierce advocate for women. She has worked closely with colleagues and all levels of government to support women with the unique barriers they face. As former CEO of the Newfoundland and Labrador Organization of Women Entrepreneurs, Ms. Sheppard gained first-hand knowledge and understanding of the critical importance of women to the social and economic success of our province.

Ms. Sheppard is the vice chair and a founding member of the Women’s Enterprise Organizations of Canada and a member of Gender Equity Network Canada, a project of the federal government’s department of Women and Gender Equality. She was also the co-chair of Atlantic Canada Women in Exporting working group from 2011-2012. Over the course of the past three years as President/CEO, Ms. Sheppard helped advance work undertaken by the Provincial Advisory Council on the Status of Women in the areas of women’s health and well-being, women’s safety, as well as women’s economic security and prosperity.

Ms. Sheppard holds a Bachelor of Commerce (Co-op), Human Resources and Labour Relations from Memorial University.
