Media Advisory: Minister Pam Parsons to Hold Event Proclaiming Violence Prevention Month in Newfoundland and Labrador

The Honourable Pam Parsons, Minister Responsible for Women and Gender Equality, will hold a ceremony to proclaim February 2022 as Violence Prevention Month in Newfoundland and Labrador. The event will take place tomorrow (Wednesday, February 16) at 10:30 a.m. in the main lobby of East Block, Confederation Building.

Bridget Clarke of the St. John’s Status of Women’s Council and Women Centre will also bring remarks on violence prevention initiatives at this proclamation-signing event.

The Office of Women and Gender Equality provides operational funding of over $3.2 million to women and anti-violence organizations, and an additional $241,500 is allocated to Indigenous Violence Prevention Grants.

For guests, this event is by invitation only as physical distancing and other public health guidelines will be in place, limiting capacity. NLVaxPass will be required for attendees.
