The Honourable Dr. Andrew Furey, Premier of Newfoundland and Labrador, along with Mr. Ahmet Yildiz, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, Government of the Republic of Türkiye, and His Worship Danny Breen, Mayor of the City of St. John’s, will unveil a monument to honour the Martyrs of Gallipoli at a special ceremony tomorrow (Thursday, September 28).
The unveiling will take place at the Trail of the Caribou Memorial Park, 66 The Boulevard, St. John’s at 6:00 p.m.
The Honourable Bernard Davis, Minister of Environment and Climate Change and MHA for Virginia Waters-Pleasantville, will serve as emcee for the ceremony. Also present will be Her Honour, The Honourable Judy M. Foote P.C., O.N.L., Lieutenant Governor of Newfoundland and Labrador; Her Excellency, Esra Demir, Ambassador of the Republic of Tűrkiye to Canada; Mr. Ilhami Aktaş, Governor of Çanakkale, Tűrkiye; Mr. İsmail Kaşdemir, President, Gallipoli Historic Site; and members of the Royal Newfoundland Regiment.
