The application deadline for the land development initiative under the Provincial Agrifoods Assistance Program is extended to June 5, 2023. This enables farmers to submit new applications to request financial assistance for agricultural land development and/or for fertilizer purchased since April 1, 2023.

This extension to the program for the 2023 growing season is in response to requests from the agriculture industry to help address historically high fertilizer prices. Funding approvals for fertilizer and/or agricultural land development will be prorated based on program demand, and fertilizer purchases will be reimbursed up to 50 per cent of eligible costs.

Applications received after June 5, 2023 will be assessed once program savings are identified later in the fiscal year.
