The Honourable Lisa Dempster, Minister of Labrador Affairs and Minister Responsible for Indigenous Affairs and Reconciliation, is meeting with ministers from the Government of Nunavut this week to review the work that has been undertaken following the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between the Government of Newfoundland and Labrador and the territorial government.

The meetings are taking place September 19 to 21 in Iqaluit. The MOU, which was signed in Ottawa last February, recognized that Nunavut and Newfoundland and Labrador are northern neighbours and have personal, cultural and social relationships that have led to collaboration and partnerships. Through this process, the two jurisdictions will strengthen areas of partnership and future development.

Minister Dempster will also be participating in the Nunavut Trade Show and Conference in Iqaluit. The annual event is organized by the Baffin Regional Chamber of Commerce and is being held at the AWG Complex and Aqsarniit Hotel.
