The Honourable Krista Lynn Howell, Minister of Education, is congratulating students, educators and staff on the final day of classes of the 2023-24 school year and wishing everyone a safe and relaxing summer.
This year, students in the Newfoundland and Labrador public education system advanced their learning through participation in class projects, collaboration with their classmates, and participation in extracurricular activities. Students gain important skills and experiences through the public education system including opportunities to develop skills, expand knowledge, and build personal connections.
The Department of Education recognizes the hard work, dedication and achievements of all students throughout the school year. The department congratulates all graduating students for their efforts to make their schools safe spaces for everyone, especially those who most recently received a Safe, Caring and Inclusive Schools Graduating Student Leadership Bursary.
Educators consistently find new and creative ways to give students an enriched school experience. This week, six teachers were honoured through the annual Premier’s and Minister’s Teaching Awards, which recognize teaching excellence in the public education system for innovation and compassion in teaching.
High school transcripts will be released in the coming weeks and will be available through the PowerSchool portal. The 2024-25 school year will begin for students on Wednesday, September 4, 2024.
