Media Advisory: Premier Furey Co-Chairing NEG-ECP Conference and Leading Tech and Innovation Trade Mission to Boston

As co-chair of the 45th annual New England Governors and Eastern Canadian Premiers (NEG-ECP) Conference, hosted by Massachusetts Governor Maura Healey and taking place in Boston September 9-10, the Honourable Dr. Andrew Furey, Premier of Newfoundland and Labrador, will travel to Boston, Massachusetts. He will also lead a delegation of Newfoundland and Labrador companies, industry associations and Provincial Government officials for an adjacent tech and innovation trade mission to Boston. The mission will be held from September 10-13 and will focus on clean tech, ocean tech and energy, as well as health tech.

At the NEG-ECP, Premier Furey will tour the Massachusetts Maritime Academy, which houses an offshore wind simulator and prepares students for clean energy careers. In addition, he will share remarks at a roundtable meeting 9:00 a.m. EDT on Tuesday, September 10. During the trade mission, Premier Furey will be speaking at a reception taking place Wednesday, September 11, at the Courtyard Boston Downtown, 275 Tremont Street, Boston, Massachusetts, beginning at 6:00 p.m. EDT.

For the trade mission, Premier Furey will be joined by approximately 20 Newfoundland and Labrador organizations which represent the technology sector, such as health and ocean, energy sector and post-secondary institutions with a focus on research and development and skills development. The mission will focus on supporting market exploration, providing opportunities for growth and visibility, networking, as well as site visits to key facilities in the Boston region.
