The Honourable Dr. Andrew Furey, Premier of Newfoundland and Labrador, will take part in an event tomorrow (Thursday, October 17) to mark the completion of construction of the new adult Mental Health and Addictions Centre in St. John’s.

The event will take place at the new centre located on the site of the Health Sciences Centre, 300 Prince Philip Drive, St. John’s, beginning at 3:00 p.m. A technical briefing for media will take place at 2:30 p.m. Media will meet at the main entrance for an escort to the location of the technical briefing.

A tour of a section of the new hospital will be provided for media following the event.

Premier Furey will be joined by the Honourable Fred Hutton, Minister of Transportation and Infrastructure and Minister of Rural Economic Development; the Honourable John G. Abbott, Minister of Housing and Minister of Mental Health and Addictions; Karen Stone, KC, Interim CEO, NL Health Services; Brad Glynn, Executive Director, Lifewise Mental Health Peer Services; and Hafeez Habib, Senior Vice President, Plenary Americas, Avalon Healthcare Partnership.
