The Honourable Andrew Parsons, KC, Minister of Industry, Energy and Technology, today announced support for Jumping Bean Coffee in its plans to expand into new markets.

The Provincial Government is providing $50,000 to grow Jumping Bean Coffee through a focus on export markets. The company will engage a social media management consultant as well as a sales and marketing consultant to improve social media channels, pre-sales and lead generation opportunities. The provincial investment leverages a $50,000 contribution towards the project from the company, for a total project investment of $100,000.

Jumping Bean Coffee, headquartered in Mount Pearl, is an independent premium coffee roaster, specialty wholesaler and café retailer. Independently owned and operated since 2005, the company’s activities have expanded to importing and roasting coffee at its plant in St. John’s, supplying independent and national retailers with whole beans and single-serve pods, and running a system of corporate and franchise cafés. They are now looking to take the next step through exporting their product to new markets.

Jumping Bean Coffee is committed to purchasing fair trade coffee, which ensures farmers are paid a fair price for their product. The company has also reduced the carbon footprint of its roasting operation, resulting in significant environmental benefits.

Through the Business Development Support Program, the Provincial Government supports small and medium-sized businesses that are committed to develop and grow their operations by improving operational productivity, focusing on trade opportunities and developing their markets.
