The Honourable Andrew Parsons, KC, Minister of Industry, Energy and Technology, today announced three new appointments to the Newfoundland and Labrador Hydro board of directors. All individuals were previously members of the Nalcor board of directors and were appointed based on a list of recommendations provided by the Independent Appointments Commission.

Effective December 31, 2024, new board members include Geoff Goodyear, Debbie Molloy and Dr. Edna Turpin. John Green is appointed as chairperson. Other board members include Bob Barnes, Donna Brewer, Jim Haynes, Chris Loomis, John Mallam, David Oake, Trina Troke, Brian Walsh and Jennifer Williams.

The Act Respecting the Amalgamation of Newfoundland and Labrador Hydro-Electric Corporation and Nalcor Energy (Hydro Corporation Act, 2024) received Royal Assent on December 4, 2024, and will be proclaimed January 1, 2025. The legislation will complete the legal merger of Nalcor Energy into Newfoundland and Labrador Hydro.

Upon proclamation of the Hydro Corporation Act, 2024, Newfoundland and Labrador Hydro’s board will become the amalgamated company’s board and the Nalcor board will cease to exist.
