The Honourable Elvis Loveless, Minister of Digital Government and Service NL, will attend the National Day of Mourning ceremony on Monday, April 28.
Organized by the St. John’s and District Labour Council, the ceremony takes place in the East Block lobby of Confederation Building, beginning at 11:45 a.m.
In Canada, the National Day of Mourning is observed annually on April 28 to remember those who have died, been injured or suffered illness due to a work-related incident.
The day serves as a reminder of the sacrifices made by workers and their loved ones and encourages a focus on accident prevention and safer work environments. It is an opportunity for employers and workers to reaffirm their commitment to improving occupational health and safety to prevent further injuries, illnesses or deaths.
