The Honourable Dr. Scott Reid, Minister of Environment and Climate Change, has announced the following relative to Environmental Assessment – Part 10 – of the Environmental Protection Act.
UNDERTAKINGS REGISTERED:
Deer Lake Tailrace Bridge Replacement (Reg. 2356)
Proponent: Department of Transportation and Infrastructure
The proponent is proposing to replace an aged and deteriorated bridge on the Humber Canal in the town of Deer Lake. The bridge is located at the power station outlet over the tailrace on the Trans-Canada Highway. The project includes demolition and removal of the existing bridge and the construction of a new bridge. The undertaking was registered on May 23, 2025. The deadline for public comment is June 27, 2025, and the minister’s decision is due by July 7, 2025.
