The Honourable Dr. Scott Reid, Minister of Environment and Climate Change, has announced the following relative to Environmental Assessment – Part 10 – of the Environmental Protection Act.
UNDERTAKING REGISTERED:
Northeast Arm Former US Recreation Camp Demolition (Reg. 2362)
Proponent: Public Services and Procurement Canada
The proponent proposes to remove hazardous materials and demolish existing infrastructure at the former U.S. Navy Recreation Camp in Northeast Arm, Dunville. This includes eight cabins, seven support buildings, and an underground waterline. Hazardous materials such as asbestos, lead-based paint, mold, and potential ozone-depleting substances would be removed. No new construction is planned. The site will be restored as a publicly accessible green space. The project is expected to be completed within a two-month period. The undertaking was registered on July 11, 2025. The deadline for public comments is August 15, 2025, and the Minister’s decision is due by August 25, 2025.
