The Honourable Dr. Scott Reid, Minister of Environment and Climate Change, has announced the following relative to Environmental Assessment – Part 10 – of the Environmental Protection Act.
UNDERTAKING REGISTERED:
Avalon Isthmus North Atlantic Refining Corp. Green Energy Project (Reg. 2363)
Proponent: North Atlantic Refining Corp.
The proponent is proposing to construct and operate a 324 megawatt (MW) onshore wind energy project consisting of 45 turbines in the Sunnyside area, a Hydrogen Generation Plant (HGP) capable of producing 30,000 tonnes per annum (tpa) of hydrogen, and a Hydrogenation Plant (HP) capable of processing 60,000 tpa of hydrogen at the existing Come by Chance terminal.

The undertaking was registered on July 17, 2025. The deadline for public comments is August 21, 2025, and the Minister’s decision is due by August 31, 2025.
