The Honourable Chris Tibbs, Minister of Environment, Conservation and Climate Change, has announced the following relative to Environmental Assessment – Part 10 – of the Environmental Protection Act.
Undertakings Registered:
King’s Point Shoal Pond Road Bypass (Reg. 2378)
Proponent: New Found Gold Corporation
The proponent is proposing to upgrade an existing 2.1-kilometer trail located approximately 5 kilometers southwest of King’s Point. The upgrade would involve widening the trail to accommodate two-lane vehicle access to Shoal Pond Valley and would bypass a 1.5-kilometer section of Shoal Pond Road. Proposed project activities include upgrading an existing wooden bridge on Fox Pond Brook, widening the trail to a Class 2 road standard, excavating ditches, and removing vegetation and grubbing. The undertaking was registered on November 28, 2025. The deadline for public comment is January 2, 2026, and the minister’s decision is due by January 12, 2026.

Indian Brook Remote Cottage (Reg. 2377)
Proponent: Ben Callahan
The proponent is proposing to reconstruct a remote cottage for recreational purposes along Indian Brook, approximately 8 kilometres east of Sheppardville, off the Trans-Canada Highway. The proposed project would involve selective land clearing for the construction of the cottage and use of the existing driveway.
