The Honourable Krista Lynn Howell, Minister of Education, issued the enclosed statement regarding the proposed changes to the program of studies for students in Grades 7 to 9.

“Following the announcement that the Department of Education was seeking feedback on proposed changes to the program of studies for students in Grades 7 to 9, we have heard from many in the school community and partners in education. I appreciate their valuable input and would like to thank them for submitting their feedback.

We are extending the opportunity for school communities, including parents, guardians, teachers and students to share their feedback through the online platform until March 21, 2025. In addition, the Department of Education is extending the consultation process with stakeholders and will consult with more educational partners to gather as much feedback as possible.

While this robust consultation process continues, we will pause implementation of the proposed changes in the selected 14 schools for the 2025-26 school year.”
