International Day of Democracy was established by the United Nations in 2007 as a reminder of the value of democracy, locally and around the world, as a living force for agency, hope, and cooperation.

Democracy is a process that requires the full participation and support of community, society, and individuals. This years’ International Day of Democracy theme is “From Voice to Action.” Elections Newfoundland and Labrador acknowledges the importance of the right to participation in a fair, democratic election process, and we urge electors to use their votes to shape our next government.
