Quotes
“Canadians are talking about the need for clean energy and the nation building projects that can best deliver on those needs. Newfoundland and Labrador has an abundance of natural resources and can play a lead role in the solution. This MOU is possible because Quebec must secure its future power supply, and that has driven our ability to end an unfair contract and unlock significant new revenue for our province today—17 years early. Newfoundland and Labrador has embraced the opportunity to rewrite our story as a national energy leader, and through this re-envisioned partnership with Quebec, all Newfoundlanders and Labradorians will benefit.”
Honourable John Hogan, KC
Premier of Newfoundland and Labrador

“It was important to meet with our Quebec counterparts today to affirm our commitment as our teams continue to work diligently towards definitive agreements. I want to assure the people of the province that we have incorporated solutions in our negotiations to protect against another unfair contract and against the financial risks of another major hydroelectric project. The due diligence and industry expertise required is embedded into every step of the process. With that lens and our knowledgeable team, we are advancing negotiations with our partners at Hydro-Quebec to ensure our province sees real benefits in the very near future.”
