Premier Tony Wakeham today issued the following statement:

“As part of my ongoing commitment to openness and accountability, I am releasing correspondence from the former Clerk of the Executive Council to Dennis Browne, Chair of the Churchill River Negotiation Oversight Panel.

This letter provides further transparency regarding the information shared with Mr. Browne in his role as Chair, specifically in relation to the panel’s request for clarification on its Terms of Reference.

The people of Newfoundland and Labrador have made it clear they want to have more information so they can make an informed decision about any future decisions related to the development of Churchill Falls and Gull Island. I will continue to uphold these principles of transparency, openness and accountability as we work to secure a better future for all of us.”

The correspondence to Mr. Browne can be found here.
