The following statement is being issued by the Honourable Gerry Byrne, Minister of Fisheries, Forestry and Agriculture:

“A man who is among the greatest of Newfoundlanders and Labradorians has passed. Graham Flight was this province’s Minister of Forestry and Agriculture and served as Member of the House of Assembly for Windsor-Buchans and Windsor-Springdale for over 21 years.

Graham Flight was a giant in public life. His contribution to his community, and to the province, has never been bested. He guided Newfoundland and Labrador’s forestry sector through some of its most difficult and prosperous times.

As current Minister of that portfolio, I celebrate Graham’s life and legacy with fond memories and appreciative reflection. I will miss his friendship and his guidance.

To his adoring wife of 66 years, Shirley, his boys Jim, Lee and Shane, and to all of the family, Newfoundland and Labrador mourns this great man with you. We all feel his loss.”
