Registration for the fall 2025 Becoming an Outdoors Woman workshop opens on August 4. This year’s event will run from September 12-14 at Pinchgut Lake near Corner Brook.
The Becoming an Outdoors Woman program offers a variety of activities that enhance participants’ outdoor skills and knowledge. Courses including kayaking, wildlife and plant identification, firearm and archery basics, and outdoor cooking focus on enhancing an appreciation for the stewardship and conservation of Newfoundland and Labrador’s natural, historical and cultural resources.
Qualified volunteer instructors and staff from the Department of Fisheries, Forestry and Agriculture conduct a variety of courses with the aim of ensuring all participants enjoy a safe, positive, fun and educational experience.
The program is designed for individuals 18 years and older and strongly promotes an accessible, inclusive and respectful environment for all participants. To register, email salmoniernaturepark@gov.nl.ca or call 709-229-7888. Registration fees cover meals, accommodations and courses and vary depending on the type of accommodations selected. Indoor accommodations are limited at Pinchgut Lake; however, on-site tenting is available, and the location is a short commute from Corner Brook for participants who choose to stay off site.
