Effective immediately and until further notice, the Department of Fisheries, Forestry and Agriculture is extending the suspension of all forest operating permits in areas of the province where the Fire Hazard Index is Very High or Extreme, in accordance with Section 105(3) of the Forestry Act.
The suspension covers all industrial operations including domestic harvesting.
To determine the current Fire Hazard Rating, check the Fire Hazard Rating Map. Click the “Hide Bans” tab on the top right corner of the map to remove the black fire ban overlay and view the current fire hazard ratings.
Any permit holder who continues to operate in an area where the fire hazard rating is Very High or Extreme may be subject to enforcement action under the Forestry Act.
