Effective Saturday, August 16, 2025, Route 360 (Bay d’Espoir Highway) will open with limited access from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. daily.
Traffic will be permitted to move in one direction at a time, escorted by Department of Transportation and Infrastructure staff in collaboration with the Department of Fisheries, Forestry and Agriculture and the RCMP. Checkpoints are located at Sunday Pond and Cat Brook.
Residents are strongly advised to limit travel to essential purposes only. Travelers should ensure they have sufficient fuel and snacks on hand, as changing conditions may necessitate an earlier full closure of the highway.
All access roads off Route 360 within this area will remain closed, and the evacuation advisory for cabin owners in the Martin Lake, Great Rattling Brook, Rushy Pond and Paradise Lake areas remains in effect.
Residents and cabin owners are asked to continue to monitor official Provincial Government sources for all updates, and are reminded that a province-wide fire ban is in effect in Newfoundland and Labrador.
