Resource Enforcement Officers Investigating Incident Near Grand Falls Golf Club

Resource Enforcement officers with the Grand Falls-Windsor Detachment are investigating reports of a person alleged to have discharged a firearm from the Trans-Canada Highway to kill a moose near the Grand Falls Golf Club.

Officers discovered a fresh moose paunch, believed to be the kill site, approximately 75 metres west of the last putting green visible from the highway and just three meters into the woods beyond the ditching on highway’s south side.

The incident is believed to have occurred on the afternoon of Monday, September 15, 2025 between the hours of 4 p.m. – 5 p.m. The individual may have been operating a silver or grey pickup truck at the time of the incident.

Resource Enforcement Division is asking to speak to the individual and seeking the public’s help in identifying this same individual. Anyone who was in the area at the time of the incident and may have dash cam footage or other information that may assist the investigation is asked to call the Resource Enforcement Division at (709) 637-2971 or make an anonymous report via the 24/7 Poaching Line at 1-877-820-0999.

The public is reminded that it is an offence under the provincial Wild Life Regulations to discharge a firearm from a highway, which includes the shoulder portion of the road, or within 1,000 metres of an athletic field.
