The Standing Committee on Public Accounts advises it will hold a public hearing to follow up on matters contained in the Auditor General’s Personal Care Homes audit report on Tuesday, May 20 at 9 a.m. in the House of Assembly Chamber.
The Personal Care Homes report was initiated at the request of the Public Accounts Committee in December 2023, pursuant to section 22 of the Auditor General Act, 2021, following concerns that previous recommendations related to personal care homes from a 2015 audit report remained outstanding. The Committee requested the Auditor General to undertake this work based on its view that the delivery and quality of care to vulnerable individuals in our society is of the utmost importance.
The Personal Care Homes audit report, delivered to the Public Accounts Committee on April 1, 2025, outlined serious issues with program delivery and oversight of the provincial personal care home program. The Committee shares the concerns of the Auditor General, and as such, expedited its follow-up on these matters in the scheduling of this public hearing.
The public galleries of the House of Assembly will be open and a live audio feed of the proceedings will be available on the House of Assembly website. Proceedings will also be livestreamed via social media.
The agenda for the hearing follows.
