To support small and medium-sized enterprises looking to increase and improve their product marketing, the Honourable Steve Crocker, Minister of Industry, Energy and Technology, today announced funding totalling $264,665 from the Business Growth Program.
Six businesses receiving funding are:
- Clear Risk Inc. – $49,659
- Eastern Composite Services Inc – $12,845
- Ocean Quest Inc. – $94,445
- Port Rexton Brewing Company Ltd.- $20,000
- Tourism Southwest Inc. – $38,216
- VOLTFUSE – $49,500
With this funding, these businesses will undertake a wide range of marketing activities such as website and social media content development, trade show attendance, marketing consultation and advertising. Information related to the projects can be found in the backgrounder below.
The Business Growth Program provides non-repayable contributions for projects or initiatives to assist businesses start, innovate, scale and improve sales locally, nationally or internationally.

BACKGROUNDER
ClearRisk
ClearRisk is a St. John’s-based technology company developing risk management information systems solutions in the U.S. public sector and property management sector. Funding of $49,659 will support a 12-month market expansion strategy which includes attending multiple trade shows in order to enter new markets, enhance presence, drive leads, and acquire new customers.
Eastern Composite Services Inc.
Eastern Composite Services is a specialty service provider in the industrial sector based in Long Harbour. It provides services such as rubber lining, specialty coating applications, sandblasting and painting. Funding of $12,845 will support attendance at conferences and trade shows to engage a larger international audience and make new connections.
Ocean Quest Inc.
Ocean Quest is a full-service dive and adventure business based in St. John’s. Funding of $94,445 will support a two-year marketing and training project to secure and increase the company’s product offerings, as well as collaboration with a digital marketing agency to expand its global reach and boost sales through social media and digital advertising.
Port Rexton Brewing Company
The Port Rexton Brewing Company Ltd. has been an industry leader since its inception in 2016 and has provided guidance and counselling to other craft brewing business start-ups throughout the province. Funding of $20,000 will support marketing activities, research and development, collaborations with other Newfoundland and Labrador breweries and attendance at craft beer industry conferences.
Tourism Southwest Inc.
Tourism Southwest is a regional network of tourism related accommodations businesses located on the southwest coast. Funding of $38,216 will assist the organization as it attends key trade shows and conducts marketing promotional activities to further attract visiting tourists to Southwestern Newfoundland.
VOLTFUSE
VOLTFUSE is a specialty headwear and apparel brand based in Grand Falls-Windsor. Funding of $49,500 will support strategy development, website re-development, an innovative online product builder, content development, paid ads to acquire new customers in new markets and trade show attendance.
