The Provincial Government is supporting an innovative St. John’s-based company that is developing a wearable safety device that could prevent workplace exposure to harmful gases.

The Honourable Steve Crocker, Minister of Industry, Energy and Technology, today announced a contribution of $420,000 through the Business Growth Program to support NDITIVE Technologies Inc. in the research and development of a next-generation AI-powered industrial safety system.

The company is developing a wearable, self-learning AI-powered multi-gas sensor that detects up to 10 gases simultaneously in a single device. The system combines a surface-acoustic-wave sensor array with on-device AI analytics, an encrypted communication stack, and a digital-twin dashboard for predictive maintenance.

This innovative project will enhance workplace safety in high-risk sectors such as oil and gas, mining, and manufacturing through the integration of advanced gas detection, AI analytics, and secure communication. The project is expected to create five new full-time technical positions in Newfoundland and Labrador.

Founded in 2022, NDITIVE is a technology company focused on developing advanced sensor technologies for hazardous environments. The company is a participant in the Genesis Enterprise program and has received national recognition, including winning the 2022 Ocean Startup Challenge and being nominated for Startup of the Year by techNL. NDITIVE’s technologies have already been deployed in industrial settings, including Atlantic XL’s Advanced Manufacturing Lab and FireFly Metals Ltd.

The Provincial Government’s investment leverages $400,000 from other sources and $326,000 from NDITIVE, for a total project investment of $1,147,000. The Business Growth Program provides non-repayable contributions for projects or initiatives to assist businesses in starting, innovating, scaling, and improving sales locally, nationally or internationally.
