The Honourable Steve Crocker, Minister of Industry, Energy and Technology, today announced a repayable loan of $80,000 from the Business Investment Program in support of Sugar Hill Inn to upgrade and enhance its accommodation offerings.
Sugar Hill Inn, with 10 rooms and a 60-seat dining room, has been providing upscale accommodations for visitors to Gros Morne National Park since it was established in 1992. This project will see the business modernize and upgrade an older section of the inn, as well as refresh common-use areas and exterior landscaping.
The Provincial Government’s investment will leverage $120,000 from other sources, including an investment from the inn’s owners, for a combined project investment of $200,000. The Business Investment Program provides term loans to small and medium-sized enterprises in strategic growth sectors as identified by Industry, Energy and Technology. Funds are provided to complement funding from conventional sources, where a need has been demonstrated, and are also intended to increase the capital base of businesses, allowing them to leverage new private-sector investments.
