Public Advisory: Child Death Review Committee Report

Under section 13.5 of the Fatalities Investigations Act, the Minister of Justice and Public Safety is required, within 60 days after receiving a report from the Child Death Review Committee (CDRC), to make public those recommendations relating to:

  • Relevant protocols, policies and procedures.
  • Standards and legislation.
  • Linkages and coordination of services.
  • Improvements to services affecting children and pregnant women.

The CDRC forwarded a report on Child/Youth Death by Suicide to the Minister of Justice and Public Safety on July 7, 2025.

This report resulted in the following recommendation:

  • The Child and Death Review Committee recommends that a copy of the Report on Child/Youth Death by Suicide and non-identifying information on children/youth who died by suicide in the period 2014-2024 be shared with the Office of the Child and Youth Advocate and the Departments of Families and Affordability and Health and Community Services.

This report and the information on children/youth who died by suicide in the period 2014-2024 has been forwarded to the Office of the Child and Youth Advocate and the Departments of Families and Affordability and Health and Community Services.
