The Local Service District of Lethbridge and area (areas known locally as Oldford’s Hill to Southwest Bridge, as well as Forest Drive and Bayside Drive) were partially evacuated as a result of wildfire behaviour.
Impacted residents are advised that a reception centre has been set up at the Anthony Paddon Elementary school in Musgravetown.
Provincial Government officials, as well as Ground Search and Rescue, are working with the Local Service District to provide assistance to impacted residents.
Fire
This afternoon the Department of Fisheries, Forestry and Agriculture responded to a wildfire in the bark pile and adjacent forest at Sexton Lumber, Lethbridge. Three water bombers and ground crews, supported by local fire departments, worked the fire this afternoon and evening. Crews will remain onsite overnight to monitor conditions, and fire suppression efforts will resume tomorrow (Monday).
