Following the recent release of ‘Understanding the Duty to Accommodate: A Practical Guide for the Workplace’, the Newfoundland and Labrador Human Rights Commission will host a webinar to explore the duty to accommodate in employment settings on Wednesday, December 10, 2025, at 10:00 a.m.
During the webinar, the Commission will discuss:
- Legal obligations of employers under the Human Rights Act, 2010
- Best practices for obtaining and responding to medical information (including sick notes)
- Roles and responsibilities of employers, employees, and unions in the accommodation process
- Effective strategies for managing accommodation requests
- Undue hardship and what constitutes a reasonable accommodation
After the webinar, participants will be better equipped to navigate accommodation requests and ensure that practices reflect inclusion and adhere to the Human Rights Act, 2010.
